Alpha-1 Center
Alpha-1 centers serve as the interface between hospital-based and office-based physicians, the Alpha-1 Laboratory in Marburg Center and the Alpha-1 Registry in Homburg/Saar. In this sense the Alpha-1 centers spread across Germany are repositories of knowledge on alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency. You can contact your regional alpha-1 center on the map of Germany.
Functions of the alpha-1 centers

Advice and treatment center for pulmonologic and gastroenterologic matters relating to alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency in cooperation with GPs

Contact site for regional self-help groups

Advice regarding reimbursement / health-insurance matters

Testing of relatives of patients with alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency

Advice and assistance in matters relating to prevention (including immunizations), smoking, occupational aspects and dust inhalation

Interface to the Alpha-1 Laboratory in Marburg and to the Alpha-1 Registry in Homburg/Saar

Support with diagnostics (e.g. with the AlphaKit®)

Support with regard to initial and follow-up tests for registry entries
